I’m a registered dietitian nutritionist, writer, and cookbook author with more than 30 years experience both behind a stove and in front of a computer. I’m in my 15th year of having my own nutrition and culinary communications consulting business.
I’ve written two cookbooks and contributed to dozens more, held food editor positions at Redbook and Southern Living magazines, worked as a cookbook publicist at Workman Publishing, and held numerous other jobs in the food and publishing industries.
Hands-on experience? Yes, but I’ve got academic knowledge, too: Bachelor’s degrees in dietetics and journalism from the University of Kentucky, as well as two master’s degrees, in food science from the University of Maryland and in mass communications from Arizona State University.
I’m a member of the premier professional organization for degreed nutritionists, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Les Dames d’Escoffier, an international philanthropic organization of women food professionals.
